Google has been consistently looking to improve their messaging app to eventually get it on par with iMessage. One addition that has been added has been “dark mode”.

Dark mode is the ability to theme to a darker color ui so to conserve on battery life. Though this is new to Messaging, this has been capable with apps such as Handcent and Chomp for over a decade now. But nice of Google to finally catch up.

To Enable :

  1. Open the messaging app.
  2. Click on the 3 dots to the right.
  3. Click “enable dark mode”.

To Disable:

  1. Open the messaging app.
  2. Click on the 3 dots to the right
  3. Click “disable dark mode”.
