We are almost at the halfway point of the season, and we know at this point the teams that will be playing for a Super Bowl and the teams playing for the high draft picks.
(3-3) Tennessee Titans v (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers:
The Titans let me down two week in a row, so I will not be picking them again. I am taking San Diego at home. Philip Rivers and two talented backs in Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler will be too much for the Titans.
I’m done with Tennessee. Los Angeles Chargers, simple.
Chargers 21, Titans 10
(4-2) New England Patriots v (3-2) Chicago Bears
This is going to be a big test for the Bears to see where they stand. They will be hosting the Patriots. Tom Brady and the Patriots are coming off of a big win against the KC Chiefs, and they have found their stride. This week the Patriots will be challenged by a solid defense. And the last time a defense really put it to them, they (the Lions) won. But the Detroit Lions had a better run game, and Matt Patricia, who knew how to game plan against the Patriots. The Bears don’t have the running game to play ball control defense against the Patriots, and because of that I am taking New England.
I don’t think the Bears defense was as bad as they showed in Miami, albeit this is New England and Tom Brady. Mitch won’t be able to keep up.
Patriots 27, Bears 10
(2-4) Buffalo Bills v (1-5) Indianapolis Colts
This is one of those games that will be deciding the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Bills have been able to play well enough to remain competitive in a lot of their games. They could easily be 3-3 or 4-2, instead they go into this game looking to snag a win on the road. I am taking Buffalo in this game.
This isn’t a game circled on the average person’s radar, unless you wanna see Luck. Two bad teams, probably alot of points to go around. Colts quarterback better than all their’s combined
Colts 36, Bills 30
(3-3) Houston Texans v (3-3) Jacksonville Jaguars
The way the Jaguars kicked off the year I did not expect them to be in this game (3-3). Wow, what a turn of events. And though this should have been an easy pick for the Jaguars, I think this is going to end up being a much closer game. And a game that the Texans may actually steal. I am taking the Texans.
I don’t have confidence in either team. Houston offense is inconsistent and Jacksonville gave up 40 to Dallas, Dallas!!! Toss up game in my book. I think Houston quarterback is better so…
Texans 21, Jaguars 17
(2-3) Detroit Lions v (4-2) Miami Dolphins
The Detroit Lions have the potential to be a good football team. This is the same team that beat the Patriots on all phases of the ball. Yet somehow they are a 2-3 team and they will be playing the Dolphins on the road. This is a game that the Lions could win, but won’t. I am taking the Dolphins.
This is a toss up for me, it depends which versions of each team decides to show up. Detroit players maybe enjoy the south Florida weather a little too much and come up short. Osweilier played well for a change, was it a mirage?
Dolphins 27, Lions 17
(3-2-1) Minnesota Vikings v (3-3) New York Jets
The Minnesota Vikings are another team that should (and could) have a better record. But they are still in the mix in their division. The New York Jets play like a team that are on the verge of being a threat. Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold continues to show that he is the quarterback to build around. I think the Jets are a year or two away from being a playoff team. For now though, I am taking the Vikings to win this one.
I think this will be closer than expected. Jets are sneaky good when they want to be. I think Cousins and company are just a little better
Vikings 24, Jets 16
(3-2) Carolina Panthers v (3-3) Philadelphia Eagles
Are the super bowl champs really a middle of the road team?
They sure have played like it this year, and they could indeed end up missing the playoffs. The magic could have truly rubbed off for the Eagles, as they find themselves trying to get above .500. Carolina, on the other hand, still have not found that other (consistent) weapon to go with Cam and Christian. But even without that consistent threat, I am taking the Panthers.
Important games for both teams. Philly beat Carolina in Carolina but Keuchly was injured and that defense got destroyed across the middle. With that being said… Panthers by a Graham Gano field goal
Panthers 23, Eagles 21
(2-3-1) Cleveland Browns v (2-3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay came off a heartbreaker last week to the Falcons. A game they could have won. The excitement that started this year for the Bucs have turned to fans feeling as if the team is the “same old bucs”. The Buccaneers went from off the field issues, to “Fitzmagic”, and now are a team trying to get back to .500. To make things better, they are playing the Cleveland Browns, a team with their own misfortunes. I am taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in this one.
Another bad team big scoring match up in my book. Cleveland is a little better than their record shows. I like Mayfield more than Winston, very slightly. Somehow, Cleveland pulls it off.
Browns 33, Buccaneers 31
(4-1) New Orleans Saints v (4-2) Baltimore Ravens
Drew Brees and the Saints will be traveling to Baltimore to play the Ravens. This has the potential to be a good game, as Drew Brees matchup against that Raven defense. A defense that has not allowed a passing TD at home. I see the two headed running game of New Orleans being the difference maker in this game. I am taking New Orleans.
This is gonna be a good one. Brees and his offense is somethign dangerous. Ravens always have a good defense. In my opinion, this game relies on Flacco, do I trust him? Nope.
Saints 28, Ravens 14
(3-3) Dallas Cowboys v (3-2) Washington Redskins
This rivalry matchup between the Cowboys and Redskins dates all the way back to the 60s. A total of 116 times they have met on the gridiron, with the Cowboys getting the best of this rivalry. With rivalry games, records go out of the window. And this will be the case here where we can not look at the records. That said, the Redskins have a more well-rounded team than the Cowboys. And because of that I will be taking the Redskins.
I can’t imagine Dallas dropping 40 again and I wonder how good the Redskins really are…I think the Cowboys are gonna come back down to life.
Redskins 30, Cowboys 17
(6-0) Los Angeles Rams v (1-5) San Francisco 49ers
I don’t know what to say about my niners. There are a lot of games we have been in, including the Monday Night heartbreaker we lost to the Packers. But in the NFL that is the difference between your good teams and bad teams. The good teams find a way to win, and unfortunately that has not happened for the 49ers. This game should be a wash. Though the 49ers always play the Rams tough, talent will show in the end. No predictions for this game, as I will be rooting for my niners. But I don’t have much hope in us pulling this win off.
Rams are playing out of control. Clicking on all cylinders, they are the class of the NFC right now. Division rivalry makes it close.
Rams 27, 49ers 21
Sunday Night Football: (4-2) Cincinnati Bengals v (5-1) Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City got their first loss in the books and now can get past the undefeated season talk. They will be playing a Bengals team that have the 20th ranked offense. On paper this looks like a close matchup, but it shouldn’t be. I am taking Kansas City to win this one.
I am actually looking forward to this one. A lot of points to be scored in this one. I am not sure if Dalton can go point for point, it is possible he did it against Atlanta. Mahomes is my MVP though.
Chiefs 41, Bengals 38
Monday Night Football: (1-5) New York Giants v (2-4) Atlanta Falcons
Both of these teams are in a sea of turmoil, with the Giants crumbling from within. Eli Manning is looking aged and beat up, and his offensive line is not helping. The only bright spot on that team is Saquon Barkley. But he will not be enough, I am taking the Falcons.
I expected both of these teams to be a little better. New York has still put together a offensive line and a lot of Atlanta’s best defenders are injured. If the Giants get behind, Eli is in trouble…
Falcons 30, Giants 24
