Samsung came on the scene with the very first note phone in Fall of 2011. They were criticized for a phone that would eventually change the industry. Here we are 8 years later and they may be on the verge of doing it again.

Wednesday at Unpacked, Samsung’s press event, they announced several phones. The Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and a 5G S10. But they also announced the Samsung Galaxy Fold, a device that fold from a phone into a tablet. This device is game changing because they just gave the industry an idea how to make it happen. No disrespect to Royole, but their idea was not quite appealing. The Fold though, wow this was an amazing display of where the industry my be going next.

I personally loved what Samsung did with the fold, it was a great answer to the solution to those that want a portable solution to a tablet/phone hybrid. This could be a trend that will soon be followed by both Google (Pixel) and Apple.

Though the (current) price is not ideal for most customers, I expect the price to eventually become more affordable. Right now this will be good for tech reviewers to tear this thing apart, some literally, so that manufacturers can improve on this device.

So if you are just an average consumer, it may be best to sit out on this device until at least a few months. This will allow for all the software and hardware issues to get worked out.

This is an ambitious device that have the ability to change the industry. Time will tell what issues will come with this new device. But I give credit to Samsung for continuing to push the envelope of what we can do with our phones.
