Another Marvel edition phone

A few days ago I listed two other Marvel movie based phones and it looks like we will be adding another to the group. One Plus, a China Smartphone company, will be releasing an Avenger’s Edition One Plus 6. Unfortunately those of us in the states will not be able to get our hands on it.

Specs wise we are looking at a 6.3 inch screen ratio, 8GBs of RAM, 3450mAh battery, up to 256GB onboard storage, 8.1 Oreo, Qualcomm 845 chipset, and the (now loveit/hate it) notch. This phone specs wise will be on par with the other flagship devices out there and will be officially unveiled in London May 16th (happy birthday Mom). The standard edition will be available for purchase through Oneplus even if you are in the states.

Capitalizing on the Avengers hype to sale phones

Without anything other than the video above it is hard to determine if this phone will have a customized color scheme or will just come with an Avenger’s themed wallpaper. It is clear the goal is to capitalized on the most hyped movie of the year, if not the decade, to bring eyes and wallets to One Plus. It is just some of the eyes they will gather will not be able to open their wallets to purchase because of it being an exclusive for India.

Even if it was available for purchase in the US, history tell us that a movie do not necessarily mean successful phone sales. Apple and Samsung may be able to gather a few additional numbers of people wanting a special edition of their phones. But One Plus is still a company most Americans are unfamiliar with. And having the Avengers on the phone will not sway them from Samsung or Apple. That said I wonder how many people would have snagged that phone if it was available in the states.
