I was in the market for a tablet but I didn’t want to spend over $200. I could have bought a used one on Swappa but then it would have been something like an outdated iPad that lags like crazy and scratched up. Instead I was able to snag an Amazon Fire Tablet 7 (7th generation) on Prime Day for about $50. Thanks to a member of a forum discussing options to run Google App, I decided to take the plunge.

After following several threads on XDA I was able to hack this up and turn this into a decent little tablet. With all the bloat Amazon Apps removed this thing runs smooth. Add in Google Play Store and Google Play Apps and I have a much broader range of apps available versus what Amazon has to offer. Change up the stock Amazon Fire Tablet Launcher with Google’s launcher with Google Now and it feels like a genuine android tablet.

Though the process is not difficult you will need to have working knowledge of ADB and have it set up on your computer. If you are able to do that then you may find yourself a capable little android tablet.

If you want to take the plunge I will link the threads below.
