Walking through Best Buy I noticed a newly set up Google section with a live rep to discuss their assistant devices. After talking with the rep for a few minutes it was made clear that Google was looking to establish their presence in the market.
With Amazon cutting out the sale of Google assistant devices, having a section at Best Buy will provide another route to allow customers to purchase their products. Plus it really was about time that Google had started posting themselves up at local brick and mortars.
Though more customers are electing to purchase online, you still have a lot of customers making purchases at a local brick and mortars. And even your online customers tend to go to a local brick and mortar to be able to get hands on before making a purchase.
Having a rep in store to show off the different products and to take feedback from customers have strengthen my confidence that Google is taking their product game serious. This is not another “nexus” line where it feels more like Google is looking to experiment and put out a reference device. This is Google looking to finally establish their presence in the market and it is about time.
