I am one of the people who decided to shell out the $80 bucks for a subscription to DC Universe. Being a fan of may of the animated Batman shows, and Young Justice, I was willing to give it a shot. So far I have enjoyed Young Justice, but not so much Titans. With Doom Patrol dropping this week I was going to ignore the show, until I saw reviews telling me to check it out. So here are my thoughts.

Going in I had no clue who or what Doom Patrol was, and frankly didn’t care. But I went in with an open mind. So popped the show on my phone while on the treadmill, and I have to say that it actually captured my attention. The backstories behind the characters, particularly that of Robotman and Negative man, were pretty good. In fact, if the show was just about the backstory of Robotman, I would have probably given this show a positive review, despite it ripping off Talladega Nights.

But once you get past the story of Ricki Bob….Robotman, the show just get weirder and weirder. And not like a good weird where you have to see what’s next. It is that kind of weird that makes you question what you are watching.

Now I’ll admit that I am not a fan or familiar with the show, so this may be a part of the show I didn’t get. But as far as me and this show, I’m going to call it quits. This was just not for me. Especially after seeing the 3rd and final act of the show. I just didn’t care to see anymore. This show felt like it was just too much weird with over the top craziness mixed in with some bit of drama. Though some of the drama was interesting, it was not enough to warrant dealing with the weirdness.

What are your thoughts on Episode 1 of Doom Patrol, is there anything that I missed that deserves a second episode, leave your comments below.
