I’ve discussed the battle for the smart devices between Google and Amazon in a previous article (Amazon v Google). But the battle continues to try and secure the office environment and Amazon may have jumped out ahead of the game.
Amazon will be bringing their voice assistant to a number of businesses. This will mean the ability for hotels to have Amazon voice assistant built in for customers to use for a number of applications. Everything from channel search, ordering room service, setting alarms, and more will be at the command of hotel customers. And in the office environment Alexa could be used to command the printings, faxes, making calls, as well as setting appointment reminders.
The question is how many businesses are actually going to sign off on voice assistants in the office and will labor be OK with having hidden mics all over the offices?
The same question can be asked for hotel customers, where customers may not sign off on having an always on mic in their rooms.
