Amazon is preferred over stores because they are simple, efficient, and do a great job with customer service. But if a customer make too many returns then they may find themselves booted. Without warning customers are finding their account has been deactivated. And Amazon’s stance is they have the right to ban any customer that violates or take advantage of their policy.

Personally I do not have an issue with the ban but what Amazon need to do is be more transparent. Set hard line numbers so customers have an idea where they stand in regard to returns. The issue is that Amazon do not lay down in black and white that x amount of returns in x days are considered excessive. If we had a number to go by it would make it easier to “choose a side” in this debate. If we saw a customer bought 1000 items and returned 999 then that would obviously be excessive.

Another thing is for both customer service and transparency there should be a warning. Send either an email warning the customer of the violation to allow them a chance to discuss the issue. Then if it continues ban the account.

What is your stance with Amazon banning accounts for too many returns?
